THE KINGSBURY WATER PARK 10k is now into its 5th year and has become an established cross country / trail run round a 5k loop of the North Warwickshire country park near Tamworth and near the Aston Villa training complex at Bodymoor Heath.
Entries on the day will be accepted – £17 affiliated, £19 non affiliated. Free entry to the park is available by showing your race number to the steward on the barrier or by telling the steward you are an on-the-day entry.
The course can get very muddy and wearing trail shoes is recommended but keep an eye and ear glued to local weather reports nearer the time. Like last year the chances are that it’ll be horribly and gloriously muddier.
The circuit is mainly flat with the odd challenging incline made more challenging by that darned mud that is clingy due to the soil in the park which holds the water very well!! Parking is free to all run participants, friends and family sharing the vehicle so come together to save on admission cost and more and more of you are staying on afterwards to take in the lovely park scenery facilities and services on offer in this truly amazing country park. There is an onsite cafe which serves decent grub and hot drinks too.
The 10k is an approximate distance due to the nature of the course and is a two lap race following a route that is mainly off road through magnificent scenery. Two laps of footpaths, grass tracks and a short tarmac section twisting around the lakes and pools of the water park, with a section alongside the river. Race start time is 10.30am.
