The Florette Fradley 10K is a popular run and attracts around 1,000 entrants each year. Covering flat, country roads, it’s a great event for beginners and pros alike. The Fradley 10k has previously been nominated in the National Running Awards for the best 10k race for personal best times.

Birchfield Harrier Jason Bennett romped home at the Tamworth 10k (14th Nov) in a fast time of 31:28. He finished over a minute ahead of second-placed Will Beeston ( Tonbridge AC) 32:46, with Lichfield Running Club’s James Pickering third in 34:50. The first female athlete home was Abigail Halcarz of Ivanhoe Runners in 35:54, which also saw her finish overall fifth place, with Rachel Burchall second female home in 37:39 and Sarah Gibson third female home in 38:23.
A cheque for £579.56 was raised from the World’s Shortest Fun Run event held in September around the UK’s smallest park, Prince’s Park in Burntwood. It was presented to Claire Snape, Area Fundraiser from beneficiaries The Acorns Hospice group.
The event was organised by KP Events working with the Friends of the Park, the Burntwood Action Group and sponsors Crown Highways of Burntwood.
The Tamworth 10k will now be held on the 14th Nov 2021 and will start and finish in the beautiful grounds surrounding Tamworth Castle and will wind its way through the grounds and out into the town, then follow a canal section in Fazeley, before returning to the Castle Grounds. The Tamworth 10k was voted 4th best 10k in the UK by Runners World in 2013 as it’s scenic but mainly flat 5k loop course takes in some of the town’s best scenery with its start and finish set in the popular Castle Grounds leisure facility with its gardens, sports amenities, walkways and cafe.
The 10th annual Lichfield Half Marathon sponsored by Four Oaks Financial Services was won by Matthew Missen in an impressive winning time of 1:12:20.
On a wet morning, Missen lead from start to finish, followed home by Gary Whitehouse in 1:13:19 with third place going to Alun Thomas in 1:14:56.
First female athlete home was Royal Sutton AC’s Olivia Harris in 1:23:03 with Eleanor Pitcher of Bournville Harriers second in 1:27:16 and Helen Taylor third in 1:29:59
